The Different Types of Persian Saffron Persian saffron is categorized into several main types, each with unique characteristics
Below, we present the most popular grades we produce and export

Super Negin

Super Negin Saffron The highest and most luxurious grade of saffron. Super Negin threads are long, thick, and uniformly red, with no yellow or white parts. This variety has the highest coloring strength, intense aroma, and superior flavor. Its elegant appearance and premium quality make it the preferred choice for gourmet cuisine, luxury packaging, and international markets that demand the best. Difference from Negin: While Negin saffron is also top-quality, Super Negin threads are more carefully hand-picked and separated. They are larger, straighter, and contain absolutely no floral waste, which enhances their Crocin (color strength) and market value.

Negin

Negin Saffron Negin saffron is considered a premium variety, consisting of long, thick, red stigmas. It has strong coloring power, excellent aroma, and is widely appreciated for its balance of quality and affordability. Negin is especially popular in Middle Eastern and European markets where both appearance and potency matter.

Sargol Saffron

Sargol, meaning “top of the flower” in Persian, is made only from the red tips of saffron threads. This ensures high purity and strong coloring ability. Sargol is well-known for its bold aroma and excellent taste, making it a common choice for both retail packaging and bulk exports. Unlike Negin and Super Negin, Sargol threads are shorter, but they deliver strong flavor and vibrant color.

Pushal (Dasteh) Saffron

Pushal, also known as Dasteh saffron, includes the red stigmas along with a small portion of the yellow style. This makes the threads slightly longer and bulkier. Although its coloring strength is somewhat lower than Super Negin, Negin, or Sargol, Pushal is highly appreciated for being cost-effective while still providing authentic saffron aroma and flavor. Pushal is a traditional form of saffron and is often preferred in certain regional markets where visual volume and authenticity are valued.

Konj (White Saffron)

Konj, sometimes called white saffron or style saffron, is the yellow-white part of the saffron thread. Although it has very little coloring power, it retains a subtle aroma. Konj is less expensive and is often used in traditional medicine and some food industries.
